I’m Mikhail (Michael), an educator and researcher with 28 years of teaching experience. I was born in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, and I still live and work here. I was raised to have a sense of black humour with a pinch of posing sarcastic questions. I’m in a committed relationship, and we share our home with a non-clingy cat who likes to pet us and keep us company.

Professionally, I design and facilitate activity-based training for educators. My work is grounded in Vygotsky's sociocultural theory and guided by the evidence-informed approach: I help teachers (former, present, and future) make sense of what's happening in their classrooms, clarify the purpose behind their choices, and translate that insight into active, learner-centred practice. My research interests focus on cognitive and communicative development—how learners build understanding and how communication shapes thinking.

Outside of work, I write short guillochés and long prose vignettes, create logotypes, teach myself español in Duolingo, eat and drink in and out, and take part in Postcrossing by exchanging postcards with people around the world.
